Cross-patterning is the use of the opposite arm and opposite leg at the same time. It enhances whole-brain thinking so that the left and right sides of the brain work together, it improves left /right coordination, and can make gymnasts more adaptable and susceptible to learning. |

This month gymnasts focused on developing social interaction and partner work. Partner work encourages gymnasts to practice verbal communication skills and build social skills that help them be confident and autonomous later in life. This is an essential skill needed to continue in the Preschool Independent program. |

Hand-Eye Coordination |
Hand-eye coordination is the body's ability to process information received through the eyes and use it to direct movements of the hands to complete a task or skill. It works in relation to both fine-motor skills (e.g. picking something up) and gross-motor skills (e.g. learning to cartwheel). |

Gross Motor Skills |
Gross Motor Skills are the skills required to complete large movements such as crawling, walking, jumping, running, and more. They also include higher-level skills such as climbing, skipping, and throwing and catching a ball. Developing these skills is important for gymnasts physical coordination, muscle development and overall well being. |

Cognitive development is the brain’s ability to think and reason. This helps prepare children for their future while building life skills such as self-confidence, independence, and socialization. Focusing on this helps gymnasts develop their skills faster, improving their performance and reducing their risk of injury. |

Core strength is the development of the torso muscles that stabilize, align, and move the body. Building strong core strength is like building a strong foundation for gymnasts, giving them the stability they need to develop gymnastics skills like rolling, running, and jumping all while remaining upright and balanced. |

Fine motor skills involve the small muscles in the brain and nervous system to control intricate movements in areas such as the hands, fingers, and wrists. This is essential for children's school readiness as well as gymnastics skills such as grasping a bar, controlling precision and balance, and fundamental floor skills. |

Grip strength builds hand muscles needed for all sorts of independent life skills. It is also an essential gymnastics skills as this is what allows gymnasts to swing on a bar and hang from the rings. |

There are 3 kids of rotations used in gymnastics; Rotation on a horizontal axis (a forward roll), Rotation on a vertical axis (a turn), and Rotation on an anterior/posterior line (a cartwheel). The ability to confidently rotate around each of these axis' is essential in developing future gymnastics skills. |

Static holds are the backbone of all gymnastics skills, developing and memorizing these shapes is essential for gymnasts when preparing to move toward the downstairs Beginner programs. Focusing on memorizing these shapes is also an essential pre-reading skill that will assist gymnasts in their transition to starting school in 2025. |
