Curriculum

Beginner 1 - GymSkills 4

All of our gymnasts work through a yearly curriculum which is split into 4 Blocks. 
Each block has up 10 skills that gymnasts will work to achieve within this block. Each level has 30 skills in total.
  • Block 1 = 10 skills
  • Block 2 = 10 skills
  • Block 3 = 10 skills
  • Block 4 = Skill sequences and routines.  Gymnasts also have the opportunity to participate in a club event / competition.
If a gymnast receives 3 or more stars on every skill within this block, they will receive their curriculum ribbon for the block.
At the end of every year, Gymnasts will showcase all of their skills in our Club Championship's and receive their Block 4 Medal for the level.​ 

Viewing your Skill Tracking

You can view your stars on all of your skills via the customer portal.
  • Select Account in the online customer portal or i-class pro app
  • Choose the student who's evaluations you wish to see
  • Select Evaluations 
  • From here you will be able to see your star rankings in all blocks you have completed.

All skills for all levels are on display on our curriculum wall in venue. 

These skills can also be viewed via the button below. As well as through the 'Evaluations' section in the Customer Portal

PreSchool Curriculum

PreSchool Curriculum

Unlike our other programs our PreSchool Classes run on a Monthly Curriculum. 
Each month we will have a 'theme' as well as a developmental theme we focus on for the month. These can be viewed in the table below. 
At the end of every month, our PreSchool Independent gymnasts will receive their monthly certificate celebrating their achievements for the month.

Dinosaurs
Cross Patterning
Cross-patterning is the use of the opposite arm and opposite leg at the same time. It enhances whole-brain thinking so that the left and right sides of the brain work together, it improves left /right coordination, and can make gymnasts more adaptable and susceptible to learning.

Teddy Bears
Social Interaction & Partner Work
This month gymnasts focused on developing social interaction and partner work.
Partner work encourages gymnasts to practice verbal communication skills and build social skills that help them be confident and autonomous later in life. This is an essential skill needed to continue in the Preschool Independent program.

Hand-Eye Coordination
Hand-eye coordination is the body's ability to process information received through the eyes and use it to direct movements of the hands to complete a task or skill. It works in relation to both fine-motor skills (e.g. picking something up) and gross-motor skills (e.g. learning to cartwheel).

Animals
Gross Motor Skills
Gross Motor Skills are the skills required to complete large movements such as crawling, walking, jumping, running, and more. They also include higher-level skills such as climbing, skipping, and throwing and catching a ball. Developing these skills is important for gymnasts physical coordination, muscle development and overall well being.

Cognitive Development
​Cognitive development is the brain’s ability to think and reason. This helps prepare children for their future while building life skills such as self-confidence, independence, and socialization. Focusing on this helps gymnasts develop their skills faster, improving their performance and reducing their risk of injury.

Core Strength
​Core strength is the development of the torso muscles that stabilize, align, and move the body. Building strong core strength is like building a strong foundation for gymnasts, giving them the stability they need to develop gymnastics skills like rolling, running, and jumping all while remaining upright and balanced.

Outer Space
Fine Motor Skills
Fine motor skills involve the small muscles in the brain and nervous system to control intricate movements in areas such as the hands, fingers, and wrists. This is essential for children's school readiness as well as gymnastics skills such as grasping a bar, controlling precision and balance, and fundamental floor skills.

Grip Strength
Grip strength builds hand muscles needed for all sorts of independent life skills. It is also an essential gymnastics skills as this is what allows gymnasts to swing on a bar and hang from the rings.

Spring
Rotation
There are 3 kids of rotations used in gymnastics; Rotation on a horizontal axis (a forward roll), Rotation on a vertical axis (a turn), and Rotation on an anterior/posterior line (a cartwheel). The ability to confidently rotate around each of these axis' is essential in developing future gymnastics skills.

Circus
Balance and Coordination
Developing Balance and Coordination strengthen gymnasts ability to develop more difficult gymnastics skills, providing confidence and security when meeting harder challenges. Balance and Coordination are also essential when training apparatus such as the balance beam and P-Bars.

Shapes and Colours
Static Holds
Static holds are the backbone of all gymnastics skills, developing and memorizing these shapes is essential for gymnasts when preparing to move toward the downstairs Beginner programs. Focusing on memorizing these shapes is also an essential pre-reading skill that will assist gymnasts in their transition to starting school in 2025.

Landings
Practicing safety landings is essential in ensuring gymnasts remain safe and confident before their transition to their next level in 2026.
