If there is one skill that gymnasts love to do it's HANDSTANDS! So we want to share some creative ways you can practice your handstands at home
TIP #1: Go through important shapes
Shape 1: Angry Cat On your hands and knees push your belly button up to the roof. Make your your hands are in line with your shoulders.
Shape 2: Front Support Similar to the angry cat shape, but with your legs straight.
These are super important to help you have the right shape whilst in a handstand. These shapes involves weight-bearing activities on your hands, which is important for when you are upside down in a handstand.
TIP #2: Practice donkey bucks
Donkey Bucks are a great way to introduce going upside down. They are also a weight-bearing activity on your hands helping you get physically ready to practice some handstands. Bonus tip: Make sure you land back on your feet and not on your knees.
TIP #3: Use a couch or wall to help you practice
Tuck Handstand You can practice these against a wall. - Make sure your hands are under your shoulders
L-Handstand You can practice these with your feet or a couch or stable chair. - You want to make a straight line from your hands to your bottom.

Bonus Tip: Have your tummy facing the wall to help you have the right shape.
- Only let your toes touch the wall NOT your stomach
TIP #4: Practice your starting and finishing shapes
1: Tall Shape Standing up straight with arms up beside ears
2: Lunge Lean forward into a lunge shape. Keep arms next to ears. 3: T-Lever From your lunge lean forward making a straight line from your toes to your hands
4: Return to Lunge
5: Finish in Tall Shape
TIP #5: Practice A Scorpion First
A scorpion is a little handstand, where you put your hands on the floor and just kick up your legs a little bit from the floor. 1: Tall shape 2: Lunge 3: T-Lever 4: Scorpion 5: T-Lever 6: Lunge 7: Tall shape
1/2 Handstand Practice kicking 1 leg all the way up to a handstand and the other half way. Remember to go through your starting and finishing shapes.
